Aakash Gulzar is a documentary photographer whose practice explores the cultural traditions and lived realities of Kashmir. His body of work Kabootar' Baz centres on the age-old practice of pigeon keeping in Srinagar, where thousands of residents continue to raise pigeons on rooftops as part of a tradition passed down through generations. Far more than a pastime, pigeon keeping is an enduring connection to the cultural essence of the Kashmir Valley, linking generations to the region's rich heritage. Set against the shadow of decades of conflict, Gulzar's work considers this humble tradition as a quiet symbol of resilience, exploring the ways in which ritual, memory, and community endure through changing times.

Aakash Gulzar (b. Srinagar, Kashmir) lives and works in Srinagar. He completed his Master's degree at Kashmir University in 2024 and has participated in the Immerse Fellowship, Mumbai.
